Climate change will impact poor countries, and people, first, and most heavily. Like Hurricane Katrina, and the earthquakes in Haiti, the rest of the world might help, eventually—but what about when their own lives and resources are at stake?

The people who will be most impacted are the exact people who have been given the least fair share of current world riches, and whom have been worked the hardest, pushed out of their homes the most, and from whom others' riches have been deliberately and systematically extracted.


We received 200 poems in the last 24 hours to reach our goal of 350 poems in time. This would seem to say, there is hope, still, but that we need to move quickly.

People gave generously to Haiti. Humanity has a remarkable capacity—even, and perhaps especially, in the era of globalization—to come together.
